There's this great roboticist at MIT, Russ Taedrick. He runs barefoot to and from MIT every day. Like seven, seven to 10 miles each way. Barefoot. Well, he studies legged locomotion, legged robots. But for him, it's also interesting how the human body moves. He sees the beauty in all movement. What they don't need to be, it's not even about the fat or all that. It's like literally there's something about the physical challenge that's really good for you - especially if you're academic.
