Incentives are the first thing that comes to mind of unexperienced leaders, says Akaas. But they create environment where people get either attracted or frustrate id if they don't fit into those incentive systems. If you craft incentives in a way that is more gambling-like then it's not about motivation but culture. And so while you can't motivate people, obviously do something to the culture of your company by attracting or repelling one or the other.
