Bedemilican famously wasn't a man of religion. He maintained that conviction, as to say, his lack of conviction er to the death bed. It's very difficult to interpret hume's views on god, because he deliberately refrains from being too explicit. But i think that there are coded messages in his text which suggest he really wasn't a believer.
