The Effects of Personification on the Brain

I think we can learn a lot about general cognition and neuroscience from studying phenomena such as hallucinations, for sure. When people hear these voices, do they tend to attribute any sort of specific personal identity to them, psychological traits, agency, or anything like that? Well, as I said, the study of personification is emerging as an interesting new area. We think that people vary in how much these voices become personified. That probably has implications for how well they can deal with them,. Probably has implications for the kind of therapy that they might benefit from if they find their voices distressing.
