The History of Yemen

After the re-unification of Yemen in May of 1990 Ali Abdullah Saleh transitions from president of north Yemen opposed that he had held since 1978 to the president of the Republic of Yemen. At the same time the Zaidi Shiyyah group on Saleh Allah or the Houthis gradually gain power and the group's rise has at this point the tacit support of president Saleh. In 2000 president Saleh reaches a border demarcation agreement with Saudi Arabia which is known as the Treaty of Jeddah.
