The Origin of Life
Mike russell suggested that these alkaline hydrothermal vents could be effectively an electro chemical reactor for the origin of life. He first started putting that forward in 19 89, and had a series of papers through the early nineties where he drilled down into exactly how it might work. It wasn't until the discovery of our city in the year two thousand that suddenly it became main streamd. And so it would happen on any wet, rocky planet. That means billions of exo planets across the milky way.
