The more I write, generally speaking, the calmer that I feel. An important part of this is that I'm not demanding quality writing from myself. Once it's done, I often feel a sense of relief like a burden has been lifted off. Perhaps you could give the morning pages a try to see if it works for you. You may be surprised. Many people have been using this approach for a long time and really do get some benefit from it. It could be worth giving a go.
