Can the Conservative Party Coalesce Around Jeremy Hunt's Spending Cuts?
The market reaction to Jeremy Hunt's statement today was positive, but one thing that I can see that would turn that the other way is if they don't think he will be able to deliver those tough choices. Maybe that's cuts in capital spending, maybe that's raising benefits in line with wages rather than inflation. We've heard a lot about that. So can the Conservative Party coalesce around what Jeremy Hunt might propose in terms of spending cuts? I think if he chooses the package with skill, yes.
