The Post-Socialist and Electricity in Tanzania
Electricity is really the kind of signature, the sign or the index of a kind of specifically consumer and capitalist oriented version of development that Tanzania signed on to. And so you start to get all of these imports, right? You get phones and air condition and fans and all of this sort of cheap consumer commodities as Tanzania plugs into these flows of globalization. That gave the push and the demand for electrification a different kind of spin.
