Is Steven Strogats' View on Teaching Math?

Steven Strogats is not the typical mathematician, so I hope and I suspect that he'd like to see things done differently. He tells a story in one of his books called the Joy of X about a time when your second grader asked you for help on a multiplication problem. "I still can't quite remember how to do lattice multiplication, but what I did learn it, it was nifty"
