The deregulation of banks in the 1990s, which started off good, then kind of erupts into this 2008 meltdown because of all these weird investment tools. The whole thing just kind of cascades along like that until it collapses. So you need somebody to come in and go, okay, you can't do that anymore. No one's doing that anymore. It's also related to the trope of individual responsibility.
