The Evolution of Evangelical Support for Donald Trump
Matt Welch: I confess, in 2016, I was mystified by evangelical support for Donald Trump. He says he came out of a very multi ethnic community of evangelicals. And so it baffled him that so many people, so many evangelicals did mobilize around Trump. Welch: It didn't make any sense to me until I started piecing together how this matrix of independent charismatic, no upstock reformation, the theology of all of that backstop Donald Trump and really gave, gave moral license to evangelicals to support him.
