The Four Fear Responses

It's common in survivors of trauma, you avoid abuse by keeping your abuser as happy as possible. The victim is aware whether subconsciously or consciously that if they don't keep their abuser happy, the abuse could get even worse. Their brain is just simply trying to practice self preservation. Fear can also manifest as disgust so a fear of snakes could also be felt as a disgust of snakes. Someone with this phobia might feel more queasy than fearful.
