The Importance of Emotional Empathy
In the 80s, developmental psychologists started talking about what they called theory of mind. John Sutter asks whether there's even a subtle distinction between those two things. He says we take cognitive empathy for granted because we do it all the time. But not everyone has it suggests along with some other evidence that this is kind of a piece of mental equipment, so to speak, designed by natural selection.
