The amount of engineering effort to produce a viable system is enormous these days in a way that it was not when unix came around. At the unix 50th anniversary, maryam horton and I though we sat down in front of an emulated pvp step and running version zero unit. The amount of work that has gone into building modern unit systems It's just something that you know, if I was a grad student turned into a PhD.
