This chapter explores the aftermath of the siege at Farnham and the choices made by the Danes of Appledor. It also focuses on Elderman Athlered's campaign against the Viking fortress at Benfliete, where his Anglo-Saxon army manages to hold the fortress and capture Hasten's wife and two children, but fails to neutralize the main threat.
