The Toxicity of Arsenic
The type of arsenic that you're exposed to really determines the toxicity. Arsenic is close to phosphorus on the periodic table. In some forms, when it's oxidized in a certain way, it's called a pentavalent form. And so much like with lead and mer, what we see with arsenic is that the toxicity arises from its ability to mimic other compounds that our body normally uses.
