Introduction

A study on the care patterns of mother rats and the effects on their offspring shows that high tendencies towards licking and grooming and arched back nursing result in lower stress responses and less neurotic and fearful behavior in the offspring. This challenges the assumption that these traits are solely a result of genetic factors.
