Build Better Worlds: Anthropology For Writers With Michael Kilman

The Creative Penn Podcast For Writers

CHAPTER

What's the Muffin in a Thriller?

Larsley Ray: When you're building a fictional world, you're going to want unique objects in there. In archaeology we don't just look at artifacts, we also look at features, which are kind of like the immovable version and something not easily moved. And i'm talking about how test how, in all arenas of life, we're constructing these notions of purity - clean and dirty, right and wrong, good and bad. But it's later on that archaeologists can find out from them what they can do with this information. LarsleyRay: I think anthropology can go a very long way into building a more solid and omersive kind of a fictional world.
