Is Social Status a Determinant of People's Experience?
Social status is incredibly important in determining people's experience to some degree greater than race. In Spanish law, your social status and being a Christian are absolutely vital if you want to be important. You have things like the children of the Inca coming and being paid for in these incredible amounts of money. And so it becomes very expensive for the Spanish crown. Indigenous peoples are often stereotyped as savage, which is why we call them 'savage' So flip that script because nowadays they're considered over-the-top or savage.
