What Is It Like Growing Up for Louise?
After her husband is murdered, Louise does her best to maintain her independence. But it's also legal at this point for white welfare officers to enter her home whenever they want to without permission. And so these welfare officers are pulling their children aside and saying that she's acting a little crazy. Do we know what her life was like in the institution? We can only make informed guesses really because the record of her time there is mainly kept by the state.
