The Different Levels of Conceptual Structure
There are no microscopic pianos. There kind of can't be atomic level pianos because pianos are just complicated instruments that need lots of parts put together in certain ways. And those different levels provide different sorts of insight into what's going on. In many cases, the physical level, even though it's not there, isn't the right one to give you the kind of understanding that you want to get. If you tell me how all the micro structures put together, I can predict that when you hit the key, the hammer will hit the hit the string and it'll vibrate. None of that is a mystery physically.
