The Importance of Talking to Your Child About a Meltdown

I think it's important to realize that processing all of this cannot happen in the moment it is just not possible and when you go back to a child to say I want to talk about what happened. Sometimes the kid really won't remember the meltdown because they're not actually in a place where they're forming memories about it. They may not believe you when you say oh well this is what happened but it's okay that they don't because you can say this is what I observed or asked them what did that feel like for me right? And kids get embarrassed too as their nervous system isn't completely calmed down yet so if you talk to them too soon after it happened it may re-trigger
