I think maybe the film doesn't quite know what to do with her, righ at the end. But thre's something very interesting about her finding this umbilical cord between them right at the start. That means tha ed almost looks like she's been infected before they've even met. Aan is cleverly taken from both nosperato and the novel here. And so he's kind of taken elements from both. The earlier encounter, when they meet for the first time, is one of the weaker scenes,. ecause it's so talky.
