The Life Cycle of Software Objects
Ted Chang's work explores themes of cognitive enhancement and the life cycle of software objects. In one story, caretakers of these digital pets are trying to find a source of funding to keep their digital world running. They're approached by a company who manufactures sex robots, essentially like pleasure, pleasure bots. The company offers to fund the digital creatures world, in exchange for being allowed to get a copy of the source code so that they can be modified into Nymphomaniacs.
