If a developer wants to step away from the property, the most that they could lose is their equity. The bank can't go after the developer for anything at all,. They can repossess the building, but that's all the banks can do. It's very unlikely that some of these lower quality buildings are ever going to see kind of the pricing of five, 10 years ago.
