The Magi in Matthew's Gospel

Matthew as an audience for Jewish Christians has repeated instances of Gentile interest to telegraph to his audience. These guys are going to become part of the church. Do not freak out about that. The magi actually helped the holy family because they give them the gifts of gold, frankincense and murder. So, Matthew just does not present this as a bad group of people doing a bad thing.
