The Pine Barons, by Tom McFee
The novel is still very engrossing. The level of work he did to even dig this stuff up, particularly given the time period that he wrote it in, must have been incredibly labor intensive. He's taking all the story telling of the pines and then trying to kind of use that in his own way to tell this story about that placead. I think that's especially on on a repeat read that's something that really jumped out of me, that i really appreciated.
