The Role of Vows in Conforming to Christ

Poverty isn't an end for the Franciscans. It's not the goal, the goal is Christ. But poverty has this, it's closer to him in a way. Dominicans, it makes me poverty is more of a means. By dispossessing ourselves, we are more attentive to the Lord and what he might call us for. St. Thomas: Perfection does not so much consist in poverty as in the following of Christ.
