Is There a Differentiation Hypothesis?

People have different big, global theories of how developmental change works. We're trying to evaluate from the highest level f perspective. The sense that we get from the data is that kids start out lower dimensional. They start out all varying either faster or slower together. And then things like a motor competence versus language competence do actually split off and seem to vary with a little bit more independent.
