The Origins of Euclid's Elements

I think there was a person called Euclid. At the same time, what we now have as Euclid's elements has been a work that was by more people than just Euclid. A fourth century mathematician called the Theon of Alexandria produced an edition of the elements. In another book, he also commented on Thomas Almond's passage and I added that to Euclid's element when I edited the text. If he hadn't told us, we would have never known that that particular passage in what people took to be the original text of Euclid's Elements was actually Theon's edition. So if that is the case, that could be the case for a lot of other passages.
