The Origins of Irish National Identity
The Gaelic cultural revival of the 19th century which was really not a religious process at all and in fact was led by many Protestants in Ireland. The prominent role of Protestants in forming the early stages of Irish nationalism they really came as a revelation to me. I started to think through some of these boundary formation processes right nations in general are are fundamentally bounded if you're saying I'm part of a nation or that my nation my group of people is separateyou're automatically creating a sense of difference between you and the other whatever else is out there. Why do we have a conception of the Turkish nation that fits into the way we are what happened to those other possibilities and why did each nation go
