How Did Minar Find Historical Stuff?

i know that practically back in the eighties, it was actually quite a, quite, quite a bit of work to find historical data. Is because there were no specialized libraries. There were no unlined, digitized archives of anything. So he really wanted to go back and see, hay, where does this all come from? And so this, much of this has gone into his first book.
