How Confidence Can Go a Long Way

A related assumption is that dark personalities are more successful. We vote narcissistic, psychopathic, Machiavellian, sadistic schemers into politics and high office. And then there's other work saying that these people can be found at the very bottom of society - oftentimes in prison. Narcissism can show some degree of success, as long as it doesn't get pushed too far. Confidence can go a long way in certain niches in life.
