The Limits of Creative Algorithms
The composite nature of these images could be a little bit misleading because sometimes people think that all these algorithms are doing is just taking some of the samples from the training data. These algorithms, in my opinion, don't have anything like intrinsic goals in that sense. And so that's why I would be very relaxing to say that any of these algorithms are artists. It seems that it would take something like a more general and human-like form of intelligence that we are still not quite far away from.
