Emel Reacted to Protests in the South of Tunisia

In December 2010, Emel traveled to the south of Tunisia for another underground concert. The day of her performance, she heard about a young street vendor called Mohammad Boazizi. Unable to support his own family and under constant harassment by local officials, he killed himself in an act of protest. He set himself on fire. When she heard about his death, Emel decided to dedicate her concert to his memory.
