Introduction

This week we're going to be exploring housing markets throughout time and space. Dean Baker is the co-founder of the Center for Economic and Policy Research in Washington, DC. He's widely credited with being one of the first economists to have identified the housing bubble as early as 2002. Was he just lucky? Is he a survivor? Are we being fooled by randomness in elevating him ex-post as the genius prognosticator? Or did he have some sort of compelling causal explanation for his prediction?
