The Importance of Alpha

Fees don't solve everything. Fees are not cutting fees in my opinion and people are going to debate this, but I hope they do. These, you know, fee reduction is not a pure form of alpha. They'll always do better if the manager performs. There's a big if-but there and that's fine. But what is it about that strategy or that manager or that approach that outperforms benchmarks, the status quo, whatever we're going to call that at these critical times? That's what ends up being alpha.
