Consciousness Is the Simple Knowing Faculty
Consciousness simply knows the arising object. Sometimes consciousness is clouded by delusion and those are the moments when we're not seeing clearly. We get attached, we get identified with things as that moment of contraction into the object. So there's an image that describes this movement from delusion to awareness. And the image used to describe this movement is the image of ice and water. It just points right to the heart of it, a condition of complete simplicity costing not less than everything.
