Is There More Than Serus Alexander in Herodian?
Herodian is the only source really for quite a lot of this that we've been talking about recently. Compared to Cassius Dye, there's very little prospeographical or political detail in Herodian. He doesn't provide those great anecdotes likeCassius Dye does on all the various bit players who interact with the emperors. I feel that there was more about the Persians in this book than there was about Serus Alexander.
