CHAPTER

The Witch Trials of Early Modern Germany

Laura Kunine is a senior lecturer of early modern history at the University of Sussex. Her book Imagining the Witch Emotions, Gender and Selfhood in Early Modern Germany was published in 2018. She looks at records from witch trials in the Duchy of Juttenberg which is today part of Baden-Juttenberg. In particular she's interested in how the process of these trials sort of shaped our current understandings of emotions, gender and selfhood. So essentially you know what it means to be a person in the world.
