There are some experiences that are so rare that you don't have a lot of people studying those topics because they don't have those personal connections. And it makes sense if we think about the type of research we all do that we have to feel some personal motivation to pursue it. We can learn a lot by cultivating acceptance around researchers with lived experience in our field and tackling questions that maybe aren't as popular or people just aren't able to identify with in the first place.
