Six Questions to Ask When Putting Text on a Graph
The best place to put text on a graph is as close as you can to the data it describes, so long as it doesn't obscure or interfere with the ability to read the data. If there is supporting evidence there they should be looking for, and vice versa. Similarity is another way to make that visual tie where i can think of high lighting certain aspects of the data, or certain points in the data, with a given color. And then use that same color in the text that describes that component of the data.
