The Warring Sides of Leonard Bernstein
Leonard Bernstein saw music as divided into two forks. He believed that A tonality absolutely had a place in music, and that Schoenberg's invention was brilliant. On the other hand, Bernstein believed firmly that A tonal music was simply a part of the musical landscape. But he also said it could work, but only with tonal music as the guiding principle.
