In the first season of Yellow Jackets, which... Yellow Jackets has loads of brilliant rooftops. And then suddenly they played the editor's song Munich,. It came out about 10 years ago. So I think this just meets the requirements of the question - you know, completely out of nowhere in the middle of season one and it was brilliant.
