The King's Touch
kings of france and england, beginning indefinitely by the 12 hundreds, ised what was called the king's touch. They would have ill people come to their courts and the king would lay hands on them, and this was supposed to heal them. Eventually they settled on a form of tuberculosis that causes terrible swelling in your lymph nodes. Kings would touch these, these diseased lymph nodes, and the idea was that that the king's sort of supernatural power would cure them. But it has its roots in the middle ages.
