Remission of Sins

There's a heck of a lot we can learn from the first and second century church about this. We still live in a culture which thinks of baptism as something that gets done to little kids who know nothing about it then nothing seems to happen thereafter. And I think we have to reclaim baptism. Most of the rest of the world, interestingly, knows perfectly well that baptism is a radical break with the old life and a radical entry into the new life. So I would agree that there's a lot more we need to do, but I don't think we can generalize.
