The Psychological Barrier to Learning a Language
As kids, we inherently trust the teacher. They are learning ABC because that's what you're teaching them. And when you trust the teacher, you follow through and then, of course, you start to get that code somewhat of a code. That's one of the reasons why kids pick up things so much faster than you as they don't know their parents are hopeless language learners or language teachers. You've got to be patient, give them enough examples and just build that trust one step at a time. And that's when the learning picks up.
