The Albatross: A Sea Going Bird That Can Glide Over the Ocean for Hours at a Time
The albatross is being funded by the us. Defense department's research arm, best known as darpa. The drone has detachable landing gear and a nose wheel that lets it take off like a regular plane. It can carry a television camera in the noses - even got a parachute for emergency landings. Its meant to be a technology demonstrator so it's not much bigger than a model with an odd cigar like shape. How much does it weigh? About 200 pounds fully fueled.
