The Impact of Dementia on Language

People who use two languages daily from a young age scored higher on tests of learning a memory in later life than people who only spoke one language. Speaking a second language increases your cognitive reserve, which improves the brain's ability to function as normal despite dementia. So it could help to delay the symptoms and it means that even if maybe 10 years later you will develop dementia, you will maybe have symptoms... just 5 years later.
